Abstract

In the paper techniques for processing and segmentation of surface models in the form of triangular meshes were described. We focused on the analysis of models of dental arches. The methods of matching the surface models were used and search techniques for homographic geometric structures and automation of the process for determination of the occlusion area were applied. The difficulties in the automatic determination of the area of occlusion were pointed out and the method was compared to the traditional techniques using wax bite that reproduce natural occlusion setting. Another application of the developed techniques is the simulator of the jaw motion.
