In the proposed method the time steps are introduced and the synchronization occurs only at the end of a time step to achieve reduction of messages, exchanged between local processes of simulation. The method was implemented in C++, using the MPI libraty. The studies have shown that it is possible, under certain conditions and using appropriate hardware architecture, the significant acceleration of distributed simulations. a1793-820100901nas a2200121 4500000000100000000000100001008004100002100002000043700002200063700001800085245009900103520057700202 2012 d1 aSławomir Nowak1 aAgnieszka Grabysz1 aMateusz Nowak00aEvaluation of the new synchronization method for the parallel simulations of wireless networks3 aThe article describes the implementation of the new synchronization method for parallel discrete event simulation and presents the experimental results obtained from parallel environment. Computations are not performed in biological systems of informatics but the sets of technological operations which material products are coming into existence for living organism construction. It is possible to create technical systems of informatics which such goals will be realizing like in the case of biological systems and so will be taken to manufacturing objects and products on the basis of the molecular nanotechnology. It leads to three problems connected with the realization of creating technical systems of informatics and it concerns: the nanosystems of informatics, the self-replication, and the self-organization processes. The paper presents the evaluation of the GQP algorithm in AMI networks using real map based network topologies (low, medium and high density of buildings). The algorithm was compared to the reference algorithms: CB, SBA and DP. It was shown that the GQP algorithm presents the good scalability, relatively optimal number of selected forwarders and by introducing the redundancy factor, good fault tolerance. An improvement to GQP algorithm to add a redundancy factor is proposed, what allows to execute fault tolerant broadcast transmission.

We survey the premises for these ideas coming from Cognitive Science and Active Networks, and review recent work on self-aware computer systems and networks, including those that propose the use of Software Defined Networks as a means to implement these concepts. Then we provide some examples from the literature on self-aware systems to illustrate the performance gains that they can provide. Finally we detail an example system and its working algorithms to allow the reader to understand how such a system may be implemented. Measurements showing how it can react rapidly to changing network conditions regarding Quality of Service (QoS) and security are also presented. Some conclusions and suggestions for further work are also presented 01468nas a2200157 4500000000100000000000100001008004100002100001900043700002000062700002000082700002500102700002200127245007700149490000700226520107700233 2020 d1 aPawel Foremski1 aSławomir Nowak1 aPiotr Fröhlich1 aJose Hernandez-Ramos1 aGianmarco Baldini00aAutopolicy: Automated Traffic Policing for Improved IoT Network Security0 v203 a

A 2.3Tbps DDoS attack was recently mitigated by Amazon, which is a new record after the 2018 GitHub attack, or the famous 2016 Dyn DNS attack launched from hundreds of thousands of hijacked IoT devices. These attacks may disrupt the lives of billions of people worldwide, as we increasingly rely on the Internet. In this paper, we tackle the problem that hijacked IoT devices are often the origin of these attacks. With the goal of protecting the Internet and local networks, we propose Autopolicy: a system that automatically limits the IP traffic bandwidth - and other network resources - available to IoT devices in a particular network. We make use of the fact that devices such as sensors, cameras, and smart home appliances rarely need their high-speed network interfaces for normal operation. We present a simple yet flexible architecture for Autopolicy, specifying its functional blocks, message sequences, and general operation in a Software Defined Network. We present experimental validation results, and release a prototype open source implementation.

It has been proven in research literature that the analysis of encrypted traffic with statistical analysis and machine learning can reveal the type of activities performed by a user accessing the network, thus leading to privacy risks. In particular, different types of traffic (e.g., skype, web access) can be identified by extracting time based features and using them in a classifier. Such privacy attacks are asymmetric because a limited amount of resources (e.g., machine learning algorithms) can extract information from encrypted traffic generated by cryptographic systems implemented with a significant amount of resources. To mitigate privacy risks, studies in research literature have proposed a number of techniques, but in most cases only a single technique is applied, which can lead to limited effectiveness. This paper proposes a mitigation approach for privacy risks related to the analysis of encrypted traffic which is based on the integration of three main components: (1) A machine learning component which proactively analyzes the encrypted traffic in the network to identify potential privacy threats and evaluate the effectiveness of various mitigation techniques (e.g., obfuscation), (2) a policy based component where policies are used to enforce privacy mitigation solutions in the network and (3) a network node profile component based on the Manufacturer Usage Description (MUD) standard to enable changes in the network nodes in the cases where the first two components are not effective in mitigating the privacy risks. This paper describes the different components and how they interact in a potential deployment scenario. The approach is evaluated on the public dataset ISCXVPN2016 and the results show that the privacy threat can be mitigated significantly by removing completely the identification of specific types of traffic or by decreasing the probability of their identification as in the case of VOIP by 50%, Chat by 40% and Browsing by 33%, thus reducing significantly the privacy risk.

Accurate indoor radio propagation modelling is a well-known problem that researchers tend to solve in many ways. Related methods differ in terms of accuracy and complexity. The article’s contribution is a new stochastic propagation model, Universal Indoor Multicharacteristic Propagation (UIMP), which results are statistically consistent with those measured in a real environment. The model could be used to verify real- world applications due to the low computational complexity and high accuracy level compared to state-of-the-art methods. This method can be especially beneficial for the efficient modelling of complex environments shared by many users using discrete events simulations (DES) based on a series of measurements in a real environment. In the article, we describe the method and present how to establish the model. The motivation was to develop an efficient method for use in an actual application: using the Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE) signal to estimate the position of users in indoor environments – the use of the proposed UIMP model allowed for a reliable assessment of the developed functionalities. Therefore we also present how the model was used to evaluate an example, real functionality, showing that the use of simplified models may falsify the assessment of the analyzed method and may lead e.g. to incorrect implementation assumptions.

Autonomous robots play an important role in modern indoor navigation, but existing systems often struggle with seamless human interaction and semantic understanding of environments. This paper presents an Artificial Intelligence (AI)-driven object recognition system enhanced by Large Language Models (LLMs), such as GPT-4 Vision and Gemini, to bridge this gap. Our approach combines vision-based mapping techniques with natural language processing and interactions to enable intuitive collaboration in solving navigation tasks. By leveraging multimodal input and vector space analysis, our system achieves enhanced object recognition, semantic embedding, and context-aware responses, setting a new standard for autonomous indoor navigation. This approach provides a novel framework for improving spatial understanding and dynamic interaction, making it suitable for complex indoor environments.

Multi-modal real-time monitoring systems based on AI are
essential for ensuring system reliability and cyber-defense in cloud computing,
but are challenged by context isolation, early-fusion computational
overhead, and insufficient transparency. In order to address these
issues, this paper introduces T-MATE, an explainable Trend-based Multimodal
Anomaly and Threat detector engineered for robust, secure cloud
infrastructure monitoring. Rather than treating multi-modal streams
monolithically, T-MATE structurally decouples data modalities into independent
neural network heads, using a specialized Recurrent Trend
Predictive Neural Network (rTPNN) to isolate underlying trends and levels
across quantitative performance telemetry, while qualitatively parsing
textual event logs via Gemini 2.5 Flash. These components output
bounded anomaly scores and are integrated at the decision level
using an Empirical Reliability-Weighted Max Fusion operator, which
scales individual outputs to enforce a max-safety posture and eliminate
parameter-explosion liabilities. In order to demonstrate operational deployment
readiness, the framework is thoroughly evaluated via 10-fold
cross-validation and compared against standalone rTPNN, LSTM, and
MLP models alongside the baseline Avg-Fuse paradigm on the public
CloudAnoBench dataset. The results reveal that T-MATE achieves a superior
overall F1 Score of 0.88, a top threshold-invariant AUC-ROC of
0.96, an exceptional True Positive Rate of 0.96, and a processing footprint
that confirms its viability for close to real-time inference in enterprise
cloud infrastructures.

Information retrieval is a crucial operation for Retrieval-
Augmented Generation (RAG) systems, providing substantial gains in
factual accuracy and operational eciency. However, the performance of
a RAG system is highly sensitive to the selection of hyperparameters, optimization of which is computationally expensive and time-consuming. In
this paper, we propose a novel framework, called Proactive Hyperparameter
Estimation and Selection (ProHES), which introduces a paradigm
shift from reactive, brute-force search to an ecient, analytical approach.
The core novelty of the ProHES framework is its two-stage methodology.
First, it analytically estimates the most suitable similarity metric
for a given embedding and dataset by quantifying intrinsic embedding
properties, i.e. sparsity, magnitude meaning, feature independence, and
value spread. Then, it systematically selects the optimal number of retrieved
documents based on user preferences and system requirements.
We evaluate the performance of the ProHES framework across six different
embedding functions on the MS Marco and TriviaQA datasets.
Our results demonstrate that ProHES provides a near-optimal hyperparameter
conguration with 22- to 86-fold reduction in computation
time compared to exhaustive search, achieving an average of 94% of the
best possible performance. The proposed framework represents a significant
advancement by making hyperparameter tuning for RAG systems
more ecient and systematic, thereby paving the way for more accurate,
robust and scalable real-world applications.
