Three new Horizon Europe projects

Our Institute has been awarded three new EU Projects, including two funded under the Horizon Europe programme for three years: PACK and Q-FENCE,  and a third: Doctoral Networks project SAILING, awarded for four years under the EU Marie Curie-Sklodowska research excellence programme. These projects are carried out in cooperation with numerous partners from across Europe and address key scientific, technological and societal challenges.

PACK: Persistent Awareness system facilitating Customs ChecKs

The PACK project integrates Internet of Things (IoT) technologies with advanced artificial intelligence, creating an intelligent and cyber-resilient cargo monitoring system. The solution enables more efficient, smarter, and less intrusive customs checks, contributing to shorter clearance times and reduced delays at border crossings for freight vehicles.

Q-FENCE: Securing Tomorrow’s Digital Infrastructure with Quantum-Resistant Cryptography

The Q-FENCE project focuses on securing future digital infrastructure through the use of quantum-resistant cryptography. The project develops and implements advanced security mechanisms to protect data and communication systems against emerging cryptographic threats. Q-FENCE supports long-term digital security by preparing critical IT systems for the era of quantum technologies.

SAILING: Secure AI and Digital Twin Empowered Smart Internet-of-Energy

The SAILING project uses secure artificial intelligence and Digital Twins to conceive, investigate and design a smart and reliable Internet of Energy. It aims to advance the monitoring, simulation, and optimisation of energy systems, so as to increase  their efficiency, resilience, and cybersecurity. The project supports the transition to sustainable energy through intelligent energy management and improved real-time decision-making.

The launch of the PACK, Q-FENCE, and SAILING projects represents an important step towards strengthening our Institute’s research and innovation potential and its active participation in European development initiatives. Updates on the progress of the projects will be regularly published on our website.
